It is said that life in the southern states is a culture different from any other in the United States. We are finding this to be very true! The south is a very proper and friendly place, where yes mam and yes sir is taught very young.
Religion is HUGE in the south. And yes football is a religion here! Most of the High School football stadiums are bigger and better equipped than most colleges in other states. In all convenience stores you will find a crock pot of boiled peanuts and tons of sweet tea! In the South they fry everything from twinkies, snicker and pickles. The pickles pictured below we ordered at a Sports bar/Restaurant we went to last Saturday. They were really good! The South is a very social place. Neighborhoods celebrate holidays together and are very close.
Everyone is very friendly and sincere. Everyone is very well groomed. Even at the High School the boys are all in collared polos and nice shorts. Mongrams are BIG in the South. Everything is monogrammed, from cars, clothes, key chains, bags. You name it is monogrammed. In the South a White elephant is called "dirty santa", shopping carts are "buggies", and when you have to go pee you go Tee tee. And let's not forget the beautiful, smooth southern drawl! It is so sweet to hear!
As Yankies, we are slowing catching on to this way of life and loving it!!!

So, have you tried the boiled peanuts? Kaycie promised she would try them. I really liked them. My daughter in Tx (by way of New Orleans) has taught her children to call everyone Miss Kathy and when she tells her daughter no she says "No mam". I know you love the south but us Northerners really miss you.
WE do miss you.. a lot!! I would love to live in the South though, it seems so dreamy, I am happy that you are having a great time!!!
