More preparations for Chloe

Since Chloe is going to be a little older than Isabelle was when she was placed with us, we've been trying to determine a good way to help bridge the language gap. Isabelle was only 18 months old and hadn't developed much of a Chinese vocabulary. But Chloe will be almost 2 1/2 when we get her, and we fully expect her to say things we won't understand and vice versa.

To help ease the transition a bit, we ordered a DVD that we thought would be helpful for Chloe...at the very least to provide some comfort through hearing her native language. It's called "Sing and Dance with Mei Mei," and is a collection of Chinese children's songs with some young Chinese girls dancing to them.

But it appears Isabelle is going to enjoy it as much as Chloe. For large parts of the past couple of days, Isabelle has watched the DVD over and over, and is starting to sing some of the songs in Chinese. We can only guess that hearing the language triggers something in her that is helping her recall what little she had learned. And she even commented that she likes watching little girls who look like her. It looks like Isabelle is going to be a huge asset to Chloe's transition.
